Left Wing Blogging

This old dog is always amazed at how leftist moonbats actually think. Below please find an excerpt from a post made at the infamously silly, Daily Kos.

Given the way America has treated African Americans throughout much of its history, there are some damn good reasons not to feel a whole lot of pride until recently. It would be nice if, as a nation, we could face the fact that some of our citizens might have some ambivalent feelings about their “American Experience” and we should learn and respect their journey. Unfortunately, it appears we are not going to have that discussion either.
There are other clashes looming between the traditional 1950’s memes and the experience of black America. There is the dust up concerning Obama’s endorsement by Louis Farrakhan and his membership in a self-described “Afrocentric” church. Farrakhan is a one-dimensional figure to most of white America, based on his past inflammatory and anti-Semitic statements. In the African American community, however, he has some respect for what is perceived as his refusal to temper his words or back down in the face of white condemnation. ...
We are going to see a war waged by the right wing against Obama, using the traditional memes as a framework. It will be a test to see if Americans have matured at all in recent years and a test in Obama’s ability to maintain the universal appeal he has developed so far.
Most likely the Obamas will serve as transitional figures, having to suppress some of their background in order to remain within the current expectations. If Obama is able to win the Presidency, perhaps our nation will grow stronger and more diverse as their experiences help move us a little farther from “Baseball, Mom, and Apple Pie.”

What this pooch wants to know is this:

You mean that once we have entered into our post modern utopia that it won't include baseball, mom, and apple pie? And how come this moonbat left out Chevrolets? You think maybe I can still hang my tongue out of the old Chevy pickup on my way to his land of soccer, Heather's two mommies, and tofu?

William F Buckley, RIP

Pretty much acknowledged as the founder of the modern Conservative movement, Bill Buckley died today in his study. Below is a short editorial from National Review editors.

The Editors on William F. Buckley Jr. on National Review Online

One of the funniest anecdotes noted today on the web has to be this one:

"Mr. Buckley," one non-fan wrote in 1967, "you are the mouthpiece of that evil rabble that depends on fraud, perjury, dirty tricks, anything at all that suits their purposes. I would trust a snake before I would trust you or anybody you support."
Responded Buckley: "What would you do if I supported the snake?"

Sarah Palin

Have you heard of this person? Well, she may very well be in the middle of the mix when John McCain picks his vice-presidential running mate this summer. Very interesting resume. Please click below to read an article by Thomas Cheplick which appeared this morning:

A Newly Published Religious Survey

This morning we read an article in the Washington Post; In Major Poll, U.S. Religious Identity Appears Very Slippery - washingtonpost.

You may click above for the article, and you may also click on these two links to see the data from this massive survey.

Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life

Very interesting stuff.

As much as the religious landscape is shifting, quite a bit of it never seems to change significantly. For instance, one can still see that Episcopalians and Presbyterians still maintain their lead in the percentage of the members who make more than $75,000. Both congregations are getting older, and the number of members are declining. However, these two old mainline Protestant churches are the ones which are the most socially liberal. The old idea, first brought forth back in the early 1900's, in what is now called the Progressive Movement (click here for a short overview) can still be recognized within these church walls over 100 years later. To paraphrase many of the parishioners, we hear this:

"We've got our money, and now we are going to help all of the poor and unwashed among us achieve the social justice that has been denied to them."

"Of course, that means telling them what is good for them. And all we need now is a government big enough to get it all for them."

An idea that will certainly be around forever, whether Marx has completely been dismissed to the garbage bin of history, or not. However, our freedoms may very well not survive this new onslaught from the left.

Welcome
