Last evening HBO began its seven part series based on David McCullough's best selling biography of John Adams. Adams was one of the greatest of the founding fathers and has been mostly overlooked in the 20th century. He was definitely part of the "A" team who are most responsible for the creation the United States.
The first episode takes us through his early activism in Boston and, of course, his very special relationship with his wife, Abigail. ( Look for Laura Linney to win an Emmy )
The second episode takes us through the early part of the war in New England and finally to the adoption of the Declaration of independence in Philadelphia. Character actors who portray Washington, Jefferson, and Franklin seem to get their roles just right.
This is one of heck of a theatrical production and so please curl up on the couch next to your own master and enjoy.
